First signs of spring.

It's getting warmer as we approach March. Time truly flies... Piglet and I took a short walk around the neighborhood today for the first time in many months. Can't wait for more of these little walks... and finding joy in simple things.

My first applique shirt.

Piglet has a mild obsession with tomatoes ever since she found my tomato pincushion a few months ago. Since then we've gone through 3 pincushions and each one fell apart within days of being in Piglet's little hands. I resorted to making one myself, which is holding up well, even though they are not as round and plump as the store-bought ones. When Piglet pointed this out, I just told her mine was a roma tomato. Then she named the little one "roomba." I think this all happened around the time I wanted a Roomba myself. Anyway, Roma and Roomba are her best friends now. She sleeps with them and loves to roll them down the flight of stairs at home. Then says, "it's okay, little Roomba."

So this is where the shirt idea came from. It's my first time trying out applique work and it's very fun. I even know what the next "tomato" project will be. Up close, it looks very homemade but I'm happy with it. And it makes me happy Piglet wants to wear it everyday.

At the park.

Today's weather is about the best we've had in about, oh I don't know, 4 months? Too bad it wasn't a day off for daddy, but Piglet and I went to a nearby park/playground to get some sun and fresh air anyway.

And I forgot to post Piglet's V-day dress. Here she is hanging out after school. I love this red corduroy dress with little hearts from H&M [paired with brown boots] and hope that she can wear it again next year.

Oh, and Piglet's going to have a little sister! Found out last week that we're not having a boy, like they said early on. We're so excited about having 2 girls.

All pink & red. [Happy Valentines Day!]

What kept us busy today? Putting together little treats for Piglet's preschool friends. Today's her first Valentines party!

To-go boxes from Target dollar bin I picked up some time ago seemed perfect for V-day ::

Piglet loved making these crayon hearts [from Martha Stewart Good Things Kids] ::

Crayon hearts wrapped in wax paper ::

Valentines made from hearts cut out from pink papers and decorated with hearts stickers made with a Xyron [I think this is Piglet's new favorite little crafty gadget] ::

Valentines folded up into little envelopes ::

All into the box along with some candy ::

And a little gift for Piglet from mommy and daddy :: Tote made from kitchen towel found at Target that is just too cute for wiping counters with :: One of her favorite books ::

Be back to post a photo of Piglet's V-day dress tomorrow... Good night!

Cupcakes.

We love them around here. Made some for V-day. Shared them with a good friend. Tomorrow we'll be putting together 8 little packages of goodies for Piglet's preschool friends. I was never into Valentines day but I'm looking forward to this.

Growing.

The sun was shining when I opened my eyes this morning. My first thought-- how weird! And second- YAY! I hate crappy weather on weekends. Can't wait for the wet season to be over and for the little blossoms pop up everywhere.

After a busy but fun morning including checking out this store brunch at one of Piglet's favorite restaurants, I took advantage of good lighting and got a few photos of Piglet. I've been a bad mommy and hadn't taken any pictures of her in a long time. But it's cool to look at these because they make me realize how much she's grown. She'd even stop moving for a second when I asked her to.

And I got her to model some of the hair clips for the shop which has been on my to-do list for a long time.

Nursery on my mind.

I noticed that DwellStudio has launched their new baby line at Target and just had to check it out this morning. I just about loved everything, from bibs and wall decals to full crib sets. I thought the prices were really amazing [less than $70 for 3-piece crib sets and just around $10 for most other things] but liked the girl designs much better than boy designs. And we're probably having a boy [to be confirmed in a week, hopefully]! Oh well, I wasn't really thinking of buying anything for the nursery anyway. I am happy with the crib set we got for Piglet from Kimberly Grant. It seemed gender neutral at the time but now it looks very boyish.

I guess, if anything, I would love a new changing table and pad like this since our cheap changing table is getting a little wobbly from constant use.

Other than that, I got Piglet this puzzle + activity book from Cranium Bloom.

I think it's new since I've never seen it before. She's getting into puzzles [I'm a fan of Mudpuppy floor puzzles] and this seems like a good one according to the reviews. Can't wait to try it out!

Spring.

Is it here yet? Okay, not even close here in the Northwest... But I hope to spruce our house up a bit with these yummy fabrics [found here]. I love love love these!
